Sloppy steering post

I installed a 3" riser block on my '06 900 yesterday and noticed the steering post has some play in it when I turn the bars from side to side.
I can actually see the post move from side to side when I turn the bars left/right in the "dead spot".

Is this partly due to the crappy rider select system, and will be reduced by the rider select delete kit?

As a sidenote, 3" rise is OK on stock sled, but stock throttle cable needs to be re-routed to be long enough... Not that it matters since the FBF is going in this summer...

The RS Delete kit might help some but mine was loose at the bell crank /cross rod connection under the engine. Maybe if you have hands like a circus freak you can get in there and tighten it up but I pulled my engine to fix it. Between the two its a huge improvement when its all solid and tight. If your Rider Select isnt in bad shape yet it will be soon since you added the riser.

Was it just a bolt that needed retorquing in the crank/rod connection? Will removing the frount mounts help getting access to fixing this?

I'm replacing the stock front mounts with the one and only this summer, but I hadn't planned on taking the whole engine out.

yes its most likely a worn out rod end, or a loose nut/bolt..

do yourself a favor and get Polzinhunters Rider Select Delete kits ($100/US)..trust me..its AWESOME, and is a HUGE improvement ;)

Bell crank section takes quite a hit on these sleds but as Polzin said access is almost non exsistant unless you pull the motor..ck ALL the rod ends firstand you might save yourself some time.
