Sled Title Question

Who has sold a sled from a state that didnt issue titles to a guy in a state that needs a title to register the sled? What did you do? Is a bill of sale enough? The only thing we have in colorado is a colorado snowmobile registration from the state parks system is that enough? It has a place on the back of it to sign over ownership.
Thanks Kyle

Fredly where did you get that? That sounds more like a reciept or bill of sale too me. I have all paperwork from the dealer just not in my hands so it could be there i guess. Whats on the certificate of orgin? It still isnt the same as a title though right?
Kyle

I think its otherwise known as 'Manufacturers Statement of Origin' certificate. It comes with all sleds. It looks like a 'certificate' or high-school diploma:p

You should have received a certificate of origin with your phazer.
I got mine in Colorado and have one.

U only get the "Cert of orgin" if you bought it new. I've done what you're asking....All that was needed was a "registration" from my state and an bill of sale....U should be good to go!!!!!!

I had the opposite deal a sled that was titled out of California and no tiltle just bill of sale and the original sales reciept and licensed it no problem in WA.

If you find the reg. sign-over isn't enough there are lots of ways to register anything with a motor in CO. Just go to the county clerk with a vin verification (free @ most dealers), Bill of sale, proof of insurance, and sign the disclosure. I have plated my Rhino, crf250r, ATV's, etc that way and they give you an "official title". Same one you get with a car or truck. Hope that helps! Really pisses off the forest service when I legally drive my Rhino down the highway, county roads, fire roads, and trails. Seems like they just can't write a ticket.

I just transfered a sled title from the owner in Oregon to myself in washington.
All I had was the signed over title and a hand written bill of sale, thats all I needed for the state to get it's $453 fee.

I bought 2 sleds from Co and had the previous owner's bill of sale and registration. The state of Montana required a law enforcement officer to verify Vin #s on the sleds then issued a title. No hassle at all.

I bought a sled from colorado registered in washington all i needed was a bill of sale the guy faxed it to the licensing dept. no problems, I didnt have anything in my hands when I walked in, called him from the office he faxed it over, I waked out with a registration and tabs.

We had to have a titles. They faxed the titles and vehicle export papers to the border (up to 72hr wait) got them stamped, etc, at the border at the export vehicles desk, and then when we got up to the Canadian side we filled out import papers, sleds had to have safety regulation stickers, and paid $204 or so a machine + GST. Then we got home and had to get Arctic Cat to fax us letters stating that no recalls had been issued for the machines, and get an inspection done (which was a joke... They just checked the serial #, took down the mileage and signed/stamped the inspection papers), then that all was faxed to Ottawa.

what would you need for CAnada if you have no title and no manufacturer origin cert

Not too sure what you would do then. You might want to call US and Canadian customs. The GST was based off the purchase price on the sales receipt. We bought ours from a dealer. I'm sure if it was a private sale it would be based off the bill of sale.

Yep but our state has no title so now what, what did they base GST off ?
