Hi guys,

Just was wondering if its possible to receive a title for new snow mobile bought in Nevada from a dealer ? I'm shipping one back to Australia and need a title for customs. I know that you don't need one for the state of Nevada but could it be done? Because of the time difference I can't call the DMV over there.

Regards,

Niko.

Not sure.

Now I know the water spins the opposite direction down there...but how does it effect your ability to make a late night call? :face-icon-small-con

have fun .. dmv is the worst establishment in the world... have all your paper work correct and should go in with the dealer in a day to get it done one time.. otherwise you end up going eleven and still not getting one like me..

yes 11 and thats no exaggeration!
i ****ing hate that place

MSO

If the sled is new you should get an MSO. An MSO is a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin. No matter the states policies, they come with all vehicles. I live in ND and they require titles. You give them the MSO when you go to License the sled and the state turns it into a title. Essentially the MSO is a form of Title, as there is a place to put your name on the back just like a title. I sell commercial vehicles and I sell alot of new trailers to Canadians. They get the MSO to cross the border or a title if the unit is used.

Just delivered one yesterday to Portal, ND. It is easy process. He told me same trailer in Canada would have cost him $7500-8500 more.

Niko....quick answer is no. Nevada does NOT issue titles for snowmobiles (or dirtbikes) even if the snowmobile is new. Washington is the same for sleds. They just simply dont issue them (several visits with the NV DOL and that was confirmed) As previously mentioned your best bet is to see if you cant track down a MSO and talk with your customs about that being sufficient enough. Otherwise buy the sled in UT or CA and you'll get the title. Hop on westcoastsledders.com and there is a big CA and NV group that should be able to help you out more.

Cheers!

Just like bmiller posted you can "ORDER" the MSO copy certificate through a dealer on your vehicle. Those are universal for use since the "TITLE" certificate laws are by state. Normally the home office gets them out in about 2 weeks. Some dealerships will hold them or provide them when an out of state purchase takes place. Email/Call your dealer first and see if they still have that form for your sled and if not have them order from the manufacturer.
