Sled stolen from yard in spokane

A few nights ago, (just after the record setting snowstorm), my 74 year old dad took his Snowmobile out in Spokane Valley and warmed it up in anticipation of his 3 grandkids coming over for rides.

He went out just before they came over and his sled was stolen. It was parked in his DRIVEWAY on Sanson Road (way off the beaten path but still in the city). His Arctic Cat helmet was sitting on the sled. It was stolen also. He lives in the Spokane Valley just north and west of Sullivan and Trent.

Whoever stole the sled rode it through ditches and on roads all the way to the Idaho border (along Trent) where the police said they lost the track.

I will be getting more info on this Ski-doo to post so if anyone out there has any information on this crime could you please call the Spokane police or you can call my dad at 509-922-6070 (home) or 509-435-8490 (cell). His name is John. Or you can call me, Jim, at 406-431-8789. If you prefer to remain anonymous, that is fine.

The sled is a 2000 yellow Ski-Doo Summit 600 with a 136 track. It had almost brand new SOLID YELLOW SIMMONS SKIS (Gen I) on it. Otherwise it is stock. My dad bought this sled new and it has many miles on it. The last 4 numbers of the VIN are 1508. It had a Montana Sticker on it, #519, and it also had an Idaho riding sticker on it.

Like I said, I will post more info tomorrow but PLEASE Spokane sledders, help my dad find his sled!!!

Here is an old picture. Remember, it has Yellow Simmons Skis now.

It just keeps getting worse. I hope they find the crooks and bring them over so you could give them a good backhand! With todays judges, thats the most severe punisment they will get.

they took it to idaho because you don't need a vin to get license so no one will ever now and they more then likely didn't loose the trail they couldn't get idaho police to alow them to cross state lines you can't just loose a snowmobile track unless you don't won't to fallow it any more

Sorry to hear about this. Kinda spoils Christmas for your Dad and the Grandkids. Hope they find it and catch the a$$holes. Unfortunately no penalty for the crime.

That is the lowest of the lows. a few years back we had record snow, and my dad got his snowblower stolen out of his driveway.

hope you find it, with the solid yellow simmons that should stand out... I feel for ya.

I'll keep my eyes open in Wyoming; you never know. Peeps need to quit taking things that don't belong to them. They had good solutions for this 'back in the day.' :o

dang, if you had tossed this info out that night I could have gone bounty hunting. they rode right past my house!! sorry.

odds are pretty good that it will end up back in your hood. how many dirtbags are gonna go on a 30 mile drive to see if a sled is out? I bet it is one of the neighbors. not to be stereo typing, but a buddy of mine lives in the new development there and has had mucho probs w/ the russians.

wish you luck and will keep em' peeled. any offer of bail should it go to knuckles:D

truly sorry some one left me a nasty rep like that at 1:59 am and you posted at 1:58. all i posted was is'nt that a 2000 700. 2000 600 had a grey hood.

Sorry to hear about the sled theft. Another good reaon to pocket the DESS.
I never leave my sled in the parking lot or the out house or when riding with the grand kids without pulling the DESS. One time I saw my 10 year old grand son working over time trying to start my 800 I put the cord back and let him have a go and it started on the 2nd pull.:D
