Sled runs like crap/hunts at idle, and dies after throttle use

Hey guys, I have an 06 RMK 700, this problem just started happening on my last ride with the boys. At idle the sled will hunt between 1000 and , the VES solenoid is turning on and off constantly, checked my plugs and they are wet. Clutch side jug was venting a bunch of gas fumes when I pulled the plug, balance tested the jugs after engine warmed up 115 psi on both jugs with throttle wide open, pulled the spark plugs one at a time while sled was running, seemed to run better on the mag side alone than the clutch side. Fresh rebuild on engine this year, running 100:1 premix w/oil injection, pistons looking great when exhaust Y-Pipe pulled off. Voltage is low below idle (roughly 1000rpm + or - 500rpm, but when engine revs up it is normal. Im thinking this can be an injector problem, might even consider bringing sled in to Polaris tomorrow and have them look at it, as I am tired of working on my own stuff these days (just did head gaskets on my 6.0L Powerstroke). Any ideas guys? Dont have the tools to look at fuel PSI, can get them tho.

Any help would be great.

Jeff

what altitude are you at? 115 psi seems a little on the low side. my 700 with 2200 miles on it at 3000ft is at 135 psi.

Roughly 1100Ft above sea level, sled was doing this on my last ride. It ran fine when I opened her up, just when it idles its doing this, and getting worse every time I fire it up.

start by mabe resetting your tps. if its off, it can really make the sled act up. could also have a broken wire in the tps harness somewhere.

So I replaced the TPS harness with the TPS repair kit, didnt do anything. Adjusted the TPS using homemade tool...Runs a little better but still backfiring. Looked at the left side of the engine a little more, found the PTO side spark plug wire arced all to **** inside where it mounts to the spark plug. Replaced the wires and the sled runs great again!! Thanks for the responses guys, this forum is the best resource you could imagine for the Polaris 900.

No joke! it probably rivals ANY source of info for ANY snowmobile, and considering this engine was only made for 2 years that's saying something.
Thanks for posting the solution

found the same issue on my 975 and on a dragon 700.

2010 RMK 800

I'm having an idling problem. Sled is running great but when i stop, it doesnt want to idle. Sometimes stays at 1100 - 1000 rmp but drops to 900 950 sometimes and the computer blinks. I have no idea why it wont idle when its running great while riding. I have a 3rd stage SLP kit in it with the PowerCommander 5. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Make sure your oiler cable is not sticking, will run very rich at idle. Mine did it and it did it with the new motion pro cable as well So I put on a return spring.. Using less oil and always idles nice..

cheers :beer;
