Sled Lift - Anyone built one to save room in garage?

I'm trying to find the best way to consolidate room in my garage. I have two sleds, boat, jet ski, and two vehicles. Has anyone built a lift that can stack one sled on top of the other to save floor space? Is is worth the time and effort? I do not weld and was hoping to build on out of wood. Thanks for the help.

You could use rolling scaffolding with planking across it. And use a chain hoist from the ceiling to lift with. A bit farmer'ish but it works.

Scott; looks like a nice setup. How do you get the sleds up there? A Bud of mine uses his Bobcat to do his...

Here's a link to the one I'm selling on craigslist for $800 - its not worth your time to build one for that price as you can sell it again when your done using it to recoup your money. It was professionally built. Now the I have a 4 place enclosed again I don't need it any longer. It works perfect and stores 3 toys/sleds high and is very easy to use.

There are safety pins to hold the trays when they are in place. There are 4 separate cables for each corner of the tray. Each cable is 3/16 inch in diameter. 600lbs for sled + 200 lbs for tray / 4 cables = 200 lbs per cable. It is plenty safe and you will never break one of these cables lifting only 200 lbs. THERE WILL BE NO SHAT SHOW!:beer;

HAHAHAHAH :beer;

thats awesome scott, green rep for you!:D

Really, it didn't show up yet. LOL

The pisser is something that I reccommend to EVERYONE to plumb into their shop. EVERYONE!!!!!..

It's awesome.
Plus, it's a panty dropper. LOL

I just back them up the ramp off my deck. It only has to go up about 2 feet at the most. Reverse if my friend. The old 2001 was a big more work...but worth it though.

Awe crap! My dad and I built one a few years ago, but it wasnt long enough to fit our newer long tracks on so we cut it up and used the iron for other projects. Dang

It was a 4 post system that had 2 platforms that you could lower the top level with a bolt winch on each side. Then run the "top" sled on the platform (at the time its 8" off the floor) then start winching til it high enough to run the lower sled under it, and then put your pin stops in. Run the lower sled on the lower platform, cover them and youre done. We had it up on wheels so we could push over into the corner of the shop. Then in winter we would put the mower on top and the bikes under. Worked awesome. I'll look and see if I cant find any pictures of it.

Similar to the picture of Borderstaff's

Nice set up but it still doe sn't look like you have room for a car in there. Maybe a KIA or something will fit. Oh wait, that explains it ;)

I park my truck in the stall with the loft...I back it in and can still get my truck in there with the sled deck in the truck.
It looks crowded in there because of the rolling island in the foreground. It's HUGE.

I need to get rid of it.
Dont want it. Don't need it.

I'll take some better pics to show my space. The shop is 34 deep and 30 wide.
