Sled for my wife? 600 Everest?

I have been thinking about what new sled to get for my wife. She currently has a 99 Summit 670 that is pretty sweet but really hard for her to ride. She has had some back problems and I feel the lighter the sled the better. I think the Everest 600 146 could be an excellent sled as the track isnt so long its hard to maneuver and is way light. Or would an 800 be better?

My worries are, is these sled actually reliable or not? Some say no way, they are crap, others say it seems that the ones having problems are having lots, while the rest seam to be just fine. I dont want her on a sled we cant trust to get her back to the cabin. Second worry is the 600 going to be enough power for her. I know that seams kinda silly but her 670 isnt just any regular 670, its ported, clutched, can, etc. and so she is used to some real power.

Please guys, I am not looking for the brand loyalist horse shizz, I need real info here. Would you want your wife or daughter on these sleds?????

My wife has a shoulder implant after an ATV accident 5 years ago. Her shoulder has about 50% normal strength. I've had her on an 05 Gade X model 600SDI 136 track for three years because it was smooth and easiy to handle. Last year I put her on an Everest 146 800r. She loves it and hasn't looked back. We ride the mtn's. It comes up on top quickly and is very stable. It is lightweight & carves easy. Because of this she only barely got stuck once last year and that gave her alot of confidence. She has electric start so she knows she can shut it down and start it at any time which also gives her confidence.

The motor size is a different issue but I look at it as a use as needed issue. She definately doesn't need the 800. The 600 would have been fine but it wasn't an option last year. We ordered her a new 800 146 X model this year because I wanted to get her a better shock package and the 146 X only came in an 800 (pretty stupid if you ask me). I will jump on the 08 because I loved it also. Our 08 was a very good sled last year. Hand warmers replaced and a clutch kit (which I would have done anyway). I am thinking the 09 will even be more refined this year as Doo has acknowledged all of the issues and solutions. Even though her current sled isn't stock the weight and chasis on the XP require alot less power to perform. You are thinking about a 600 Etec and that could be a very sweet package. I think the motor will be very smooth and alot less oil. If it came in an X I would have pulled the trigger already. My wife's 800 XP got anywhere from 15-19+ mpg last year which isn't too bad either. A friend of ours has his wife on a 07 600 RMK. Nice sled but she likes the XP for the stability also.

Years ago there was a statement that said "believe 10% of what you hear and 90% of what you see". I think nowadays the new statement sould say "believe 10% of what you hear or read on an internet forum when someone has an ax to grind and 90% of what you see". I can only tell you for me nad my wife I feel confident that my wife is safe....until I come to a forum and read how unhappy I should be. What I see on the mountain is a bunch of Rev's and XP's tearing it up. Good luck on your future purchase. I feel your concern for getting a good sled for your wife.

I had the same delema, somewhat, with deciding which sled to order for my wife. I had nothing but good luck with my 154 XP 800r this past season and after she rode it once late in the spring, she wouldnt give it back! I wanted to get her the X model 600 etec as the low-mid range power is excellent and is really all she will probably need ever. But in order to get the 146 I went with the standard 600 e-tec everest model after seeing it in person. There will be no beating the oil and fuel mileage on these thats for sure, she will be loving it and the light weight never seems to tire you out after a full days ride. Good luck on your choice.
