sled didn't want to start while unload after a ride

Hey guys, I found this odd, I was out on my sled all day, loaded it up, drive home, go to unload it, and it would only give me a quick pop or start up as if it fired for 1 or 2 rpm, I pulled for a bit and no go, so then I had held the throttle slightly open, it bogged a tad at first and fired up and idled fine, I let it warm up a tad then reversed into garage. next day I go and check on it, it fires up normally and no codes.

Just wondering if anybody else had this occur to them? starts good usually otherwise. 1-2 pulls after sitting for a night.

Was the throttle block covered in snow/ water and did it freeze on drive home? Sled will not want to start if TSS switch is not activated and ECU sees TPS off of idle voltage (thinking there is a stuck throttle) when you “crack the throttle” it triggered the TSS and allows thread to start. After sled thaws out overnight, it starts normal the next morning.

How much slack do you have in throttle cable? Is there a lefty installed? Too much/ too little can cause symptoms you are describing.

Ive seen this happen, as well as the situation where you have the sled in a heated shop, then haul it outside for 5-10 min and try to start it. One thing that can happen is the air temp sensor cools off much faster the the engine does and then when you go to start the sled the ECM gives it too much fuel and if you dont crack the throttle right away the first time it trys to fire you end up flooding the engine. then you keep pulling and make it worse.

Anytime you have a situation like this if it doesnt start and run on its own in 3-4 pulls max, hold the throttle wide open and try starting it.

Thanks for the replies guys, good info. I kind of did think maybe it had flooded its self, and good mentioning on the throttle switch. If it froze up and I had too much slack it could freeze in the throttle open position right? Then the sled wouldn't want to run incase she's a run away.

My throttle slack is correct, it's got a bit but not too much slack. Probably like 1/8 inch or so.
