Thanks for the pics

looks like the boom is set off to one side, would you do it that way again?

Can you only load from the left of the truck?

If anyone has a vid of the boom in action Id love that

2 boom or not 2 boom ?

I also like the boom, have a buddy who has a winch deck that another guy in town built it's a heavier steel deck and the boom mounts all the way through to the bed, he doesn't like it for the fact that it takes time to unmount it & remove it from the truck when he needs bed space during the week ( in the winter I say trucks are for hauli'n sleds). Have another freind bought a flatbed superduty w/ winch mounted on the headache rack had one of those boom and winch setups u can get through harborfreight good concept, free'd up bed space. winches can break, batteris can go dead but there's usually a snowbank around, thing I like is pull up late in the morning in a parking area allready full where u have to park parallel down the road :( no problem just winch 'er over the side, just my thought.

this is my second version there are two like it in town built two at a time.
no i wouldnt change the offset works great with a short bed. If you have a long bed you can put it in the back center that seem to work good for some people. I like it in the front.

On the issue of not having enough room to load or unload with a ramp because you are on some goat trail...If you can get your truck into that spot I can't see why a ramp is an issue. Sheesh.

my beef with the ramps is that I used one for a couple years loading my sled into the back of my truck. Once or twice I came up the ramp pretty fast and thought for a second that I was gonna put my skis through my back window. Never felt comfortable with them after that.

Built one more this year 3/4 done.
Another option is to make it out of 12 ga. galv. sheet and bend up some c or hat shaped parts to make the upper deck id you know a sheetmetal guy.
Boom is really nice when you live on a asphalt road and have no snow at the house but plenty in the hills no running the sled on the asphalt top load it up.

you have to add a post to the legs of you current deck and add a boom. what you could use is some 3" sch 40 pipe for the piece that goes on the leg of you current deck then add some more support to the legs so you do not overstress what you have for legs. then you can make the upper part of the boom out of 2 1/2" sch 40 pipe it just happen to silde into 3" sch pipe well.

sounds pretty easy.
where do you locate the boom in the sleddeck? It looks like yours is in the front driver side. Can you load the sleds from either side? Do they lift right into place or do you have to move the sleds around once you get the sled up there?

Sorry for all the questions i'm haveing trouble visualizing where the boom needs to be to get 2 sleds up there.

So, the 3" pipe acts as the base for the boom? You didn't need any bearings to make it swing when it's got a sled hanging on it, six feet out?

yes the 3" acts as the holder aNd as the bearring. You only load on the drivers side for both sleds. Once the sled is on hte deck you only have to move the sled forward or back to get the tie bar to line up.
