Sled Decks and lifted trucks....

I currently have a 4 place enclosed but like the idea of a sled deck for spring riding and when its just me and a buddy going. I have a 03' Dodge 2500 4 door shortbed with a 10" Lift on 40" tires, anyone have a truck this big with a deck on it? My main concern would be loading the sleds, Im thinking a 10' ramp would be the best option? Any input of info would be great. Thanks

I don't have a deck yet but I'd say you wouldn't want to go any shorter than 10 but I suppose it partly depends if you are getting a beaver tail deck.

You may be able to load "your" sled on an 8, but gotta think about the other people who may have to use it as well.

To visualize and compare ramp angles use a piece of graph paper and draw it on there.

I don't know if they make one for your truck bed size or if it's in your price range but the hydraulic beds that take the whole deck to ground level are sweet.

thats going to be a little steep

i would look for a good 11 foot ramp atleast, and also as mentioned, a beavertail deck would help.

or just always plan on backing up to a small hill:face-icon-small-dis

if you can get a beaver tail and at least a 10' ramp Cause its gonna be pretty steep any other way I have a stock 3/4 ton chev with a deck and no beaver tail with a 10' ramp its no prob but if I put my truck up that high I think my ramp would be too short. The prob you are gonna have is the bed is pretty short so you are limited on ramp length if its going into you bed like certian kinds of decks have

Not quite as tall...but i have an 02 dodge 3/4 ton...6 in lift with 35s and 37's...bobtail deck and 10 ft ramp...not bad at all..girlfriend even rides her sled on and off. :)

deck

Just measure how tall the deck would be from the ground and then calculate how long of a ramp you would need to make the angle you want...

8' with no beaver tail gets dangerously steep with any of the newer 3/4 or 1 ton trucks with anything over stock tires. beaver tail is gonna be a must along with a 12' ramp would be super helpful.

and hope you never have to load a dead sled.

I've seen ur truck, ur gonna need a beavertail and atleast a 12' ramp(expandable would be the way i'd go), look at silverlake mfg., he makes a telescoping ramp, i have a 8" w/ 37's and a 10' ramp, some of my buddies make me load there sled, its a little steep.

Let's hear some ramp angles or dimensions? I'm sure that people considering a deck would like to know how everyone feels about the steepness of their ramp.

For example:
Deck height from ground to top of deck = xx "
Beavertail height if applicable = xx "
Ramp length = xx" or x'.

Opinion of owner - angle good, angle a little steep, angle pretty steep so wish I had more ramp length or beavertail or both.

Something like this.??
