Sled deck

I have a question.
i have a 05 dodge hemi 5.7 shortbox truck. Is it safe to hold a sled deck. the reason for the sled deck is because i have a two place trailer that i dont need and id rather have a deck. and im usually only holding one sled and its a 151 inch skidoo. Please reply because i need to get rid of the trailor.
thx
Tyler

You can do it with a aluminum deck and air bags. Your axle will be close to max. The problem is with that short of a bed the weight will be way back of the axle.
Here is mine;
Hydraulic sled deck. 3/4 ton 8' bed with air bags.
I pull a bumper pull camper and haul the ATVs.

Yup. Get a Rev-Arc ramp and load it in the bed. Alot cheaper than a new truck!

Due to my laziness, here's my response via "copy & paste"

This is the last time I'm going to say this in this thread.......
If you raise your load it will adversely affect your handling.
If you move your load further away from center (rearward) it will adversely affect your handling.
If you do both it will adversely affect your handling.

Now, doing this on a truck which is not designed for that load even if is properly placed is less than intelligent to put it nicely.
Keep in mind the origin of this thread was one seeking advice.

Not likely, but how would you feel if someone did this because you posted it was ok, & they had a bad accident?

I don't always drive in a proper manner, but I won't come on here & say it's perfectly safe for others to do so.

That's all I'm trying to say here.

1 sled& deck, no problem. Just get some overloads/airbags/Timbrens, to hold up the @ss end of the truck. 2sleds on the deck. Still do-able, but you need to know how to drive.
Can you drive it like a Corvette up the hill?.............No, but lotsa people drive high profile vehicles every day.......like every delivery truck driver in the world.
Just be smart about how you're driving. The corporate 9.25 rear end in your 1500 Ram is stout enough to handle it.
Yes a 1 ton dually would be ideal, but you have a half ton, so couple hundo in upgrades to the rear suspension will take care of it.
Personally, 1 sled, I'd just load it in the truck bed and go, not waste the time or $ on a deck.
