sled deck?

i have chance to buy a 10 ft long custom built sled deck my only concern is that i have a chevy short box and not sure i want that much hanging out. we have m8 153's we will be hauling on it. it is a 2500hd so weight doesnt concern me mostly just lenght.

yeah but when you have a sled on there, its ten ft long anyway. with a ten foot deck, the back half of your sled would be supported, not hangin. but it probably would be a pain to get to your tailgate from underneath.

don't have a chevy, but have a dodge with a 6 ft box and a 8 ft deck. the only thing that i don't like about it is opening and closing the tailgate, but that is such a minor issue in my mind and not really that big of a pain you just have to bend over to open and close. the 8ft deck is great, much more of the sled is supported on the deck plus if you get a new truck and it's a long box you don't need a new deck

i have a mega cab 3500 with a 9 foot deck i built and the only thing i noticed with a short box is you don't get much weight up front for steering on slippery roads{tons of traction out back though!} it's always makes me smile too drive through the the ditch on a unplowed road and pullout some guy with a big enclosed trailer....for a small beer fee of course!
