sled deck winching sleds up who done it?

throw the comealong in the back of the truck for when you have a dead sled.

been there done that, sure does make it easier getting a dead sled up there.

my buddys sled died on our last ride and i wished to god that i had a come-along in the back of my truck! my back still hurts. if you have a sled deck you should have a come-along sittin somewhere below it!

you have a few options, grow a set and ride them in the bed, buy a trailer, or bring t/a with you and when his poo makes engine noises again and you tow him back in he can help you lift it in the bed!!!:D:eek::D

I've done it. I took an old boat winch and attached it to a steel bar and tow hook. I hooked the winch to the headache rack and carefully winched it so as not to break the rack. A come along would work too. Also look for an atv hand winch with a ratchet handle if you are buying new. That way you can hook it to the ski tie down. The boat winches need enough room for the handle to go all the way around. Electric winches would work as well. If you have plastic glides, it's pretty easy. Even a block and tackle may work in a pinch.

Here is and example of a ratchet winch.

Loading sleds on a deck or on trailer for that matter is much like flying an aircraft...........It can be tricky, takes a bit to get over the fear of it and get the feel for it, but once you've got it, you've got it! 29 years ago, boy I'm dating myself! Anyway when I first gave it a go on an old two place it was a bit of touch and go until I got the hang of it, but once I did I rarely even think about it now. There are even times in the snowparks when I watch someone load their sleds and want to go give'em a hand, and occasionally do if they are having problems...........There's not a thing wrong with being green at it, we all were at some point. Like many things it can take a bit of practice. :)

I'd be leary of winching a sled outside of a broken down one though.

Take care and be safe!

technically, I think if you broke both of your sleds loading them into your truck, your trucks insurance would cover them, kinda like, when you tow your sleds in a trailer and you wreck, your sleds are covered under the trucks insurance.

Might work might not. I have insurance on both of my sleds just in case I dont like them anymore ;)

Make sure you ask your Ins Man about what IS covered instead of what's NOT covered. NOTHING that my truck is towing is covered by vehicle insurance it if some something that can have it's own policy.

Hell, even AAA won't cover towing a dead trailer...even if you have the premium coverage. FUGGERS.

I went and bought one of these. Beats the hell out of loading on my old deck.

that looks gay,I enjoy loading mine with the ramp.like a mini hill climb!seriously though,I've found that if u park on a hill it's alot easier to unload(no,I don't believe reverse belongs on a sled,or electric start, unless u ride a 4 stroke)and when ur loading point the truck downhill,it lessens the approach angle.one thing I learned was, when icy, make sure ur track isn't spinning when u hit the ramp,it's a launcher.
