Sled deck question

I have a long box truck, but I have a cross-bed toolbox mounted in the front. I'm wondering if this would interfere with running a sled deck on my truck. I guess for the winter months I could pull the box and store the stuff under the deck. Thoughts from sled deck owners?

I had to pull my box... I just make it so I could quick release it..

Most decks have the front supports that need to go all the way to the front of the bed. I have had guys with a long box pick up put the deck in the short box position and use it with a tool box or fuel tank. This seems to work out, all depends on the size of the tool box and how it is mounted, bed mount or rail mount.

One of the best things about having a deck in your pick up is being able to store things under is and with a locking tail gate you get an extra large tool box with security.

It's just a standard rail mounted cross-bed box. I would worry that with the deck in the short box position (unless it was a short box deck) it wouldn't be very stable. It wouldn't be that big a deal to remove my box I guess, I'm just used to it.
Sent you a PM Sled169.

Another question- what do you do with the sleds when you don't feel like having them on the deck? For summer storage I figure just leave the sleds on there like I do with the trailer, but what about in the winter? I thought a guy could unload the sleds, unload the deck, then drive them back on but that seems like a royal PIA. No garage to stuff them in either :(

I think some of the decks have the option of having a trap door near the front of the deck so you can access a tool box under the deck or have a storage box bolted to the underside of the deck.

I think most peaple pull thier sleds off the deck when not using them but leave the deck on (for the winter).

Exact decks have tool box's built into them up at the front. They have a lockable aluminum lid built into the deck up at the front near the headache rack. Best decks in the industry by far. Do a search on here, there are pictures of them on here, or call Exact Welding in Prince George, BC

pull the box.....drop the sleds duing the week, with a nice setup you can load real quick, only takes me a few minutes. however lately i have left the sleds on during the week. just watch for clearance overhead where you drive.

I just don't like the idea of dropping them on dirt if there isn't enough snow around (we don't get much down here in southern OR)

I build Exact decks. Sturdiest decks on the market available with ali storage box in the front and optional diesel slip tank with the pump accessible through the front box. Check them out in the swapmeet.
