Sled build off

To still an idea from the biker build off TV show and The Horse Backstreet Chopper. Why not have Snowest do a sled build off.

Invite 3 pro shops to build a sled and 3 amature guys to build sleds.
Have em meet a a specific local ( or a couple of locations would even be better)and with a few test riders hash it out for a few days. Top pro sled and top amature get fetured in Sledheads or Snowest.
What to you guys think?

I like the idea, we've tossed things like that around before. It's just hard to make it work in print... those kinds of things are designed for tv and the format of a competitive build-off is so common on television, it would be hard to pull it off in magazine articles without losing the readers' attention.

Great idea, though. Maybe there's a creative way to make it work.

Not sure if you are familiar with The Horse Backstreet Chopper magazine. They have a build off every year. The amatures are picked at radom usely about 6 but alot drop out. The pro shops are invited ususaly 3 to 4 shops. The build off usually starts about 6 months prior to an event called the Smoke Out East. Every month each team has to send in a small update of what they have done and are doing. No complete bikes are allowed parts only (that way u can't take a old panhead put a paint job on it and call it built). Once built the pro bikes are ridin from the Smoke Out West (which was in New Mexico this year) to the Smoke Out East which is in the Carolinas. The amature bikes just have to show up at the Smoke out East and be ridden to the Event. Then the winners are fitured in the mag.
Another chopper site called Choppers Underground has a build off every year that each builder up dates monthly and then forum members vote on the best bike.
I think a similar format would work in the sled world and it would be cool to see.
