I'm thinking of a early Chrismas gift for myself. Does anyone have one??? What are the pro's & con's???

They work great, check out the igolf neo as well. It is cheaper, smaller, and you can mark up your own courses instead of paying to download courses. But you can download them as well if you want to.

Don't get talked into a range finder, my buddy has one and he slows us down....seems like he has to point that thing at everything on the course. "Hey, that chicks butt is 136 yrds away" Don't get me wrong, thats all in good fun, but I don't need to know the distance.......

summitman,
I just bought the SkyCaddy SG2.5, by SkyGolf. It works great, as I golf more than one state I took the option to download any course in the US. The yearly cost for that option is $49.50 per year. We are in Mesquite NV now and I downloaded the 6 courses here in less than 10 minutes. It stores up to 10 courses. Then on your computer through SkyGolf you have a inventory of your downloaded courses. As changes are made to any of those courses they are updated. Each hole also shows all water, sand traps and such, with the distance from your shot. Hope this helps.....

I was golfing with Shocker & Summitone this summer(BTW-they suck at golf, I was throwing darts at the green). Summitone had the skycaddy 4. It worked great. I was talking to him about it, & he said if he was buying another one, he would get the 2.5. He said it worked the same as his 4, but for less $$$. Sounds like the screen & the size is the only differance.

I jerk off to Natalie Gulbis :D

LMFAO!

I have the skycaddie, and the laser finder. It's the Bushnell pinseeker. I use the pinseeker alot more often than the skycaddie. It gives me an exact distance to the flag. The skycaddie is tough to guess where the pin's at if your down hill, and you can only see half the pin. It's good at every course, and you don't have to pay for it. Also the best reason to buy the range finder, is you can use it at the range if your trying to dial in your distances on your clubs. The Skycaddie is useless for that! It only takes about 3 seconds to get an exact distance. I do it before I even get out of the cart.

I've got the SG3. Mine does NOT have the color screen, which IMO is a waste of money.

One advantage over a rangefinder? If you're playing on a strange course -- which I do a lot -- the SkyCaddie will tell you distances to bunkers & creeks, etc. that may be out of sight over a hill or whatever. I hate it when I crush what I think is a perfect drive, only to find myself in a blind hazard. Plus, it's handy for some of the guys I golf with, because there usually aren't any marked yardages in the adjoining fairways...:p

Edit -- I think the difference between the 2.5 and the 3 is the battery. Mine uses 2 "AA" batteries; I use rechargeables and bring a couple regular batteries with me just in case. I think the 2.5 has a built-in rechargeable battery, if you forget to charge it you're kinda screwed. Not positive on that, though.

The SG2.5 is black and white screen, with rechargable batteries. The charger come with it, and on a full charge is good for 14 hours. The new 5.0 has a bit larger screen and color. But is around $200.00 more, and in my opinion not worth the extra bucks. On courses that you are playing for the first time the SkyCaddy [in my opinion] is the only way to go to see what your hitting into........

I use the SG4, love it. I play in quite a few different areas and states, lots of first time for me courses, really helps with course management and seeing the hole without having played it prior.
