SKS "DET Warning"

Curious if anybody else out there has had any DET Warning codes pop up on their stock SKS sleds? Was riding "In Break In Mode" with Good Gas "91 Octane Eth gas" in ETH Mode on a cold day in the single digits and she threw a DET Warning on the PTO side. Wasn't at WOT. I believe she was around the 7000rpm range when the warning appeared. This was my buddies sled and she is bone stock.

I have the same sled and mine has the SSI Pipe Mod with PCV set with DTR's fuel and timing mapping. Mine threw 4 DET warnings that same day.

I hear they run quite lean in that rpm range. I have since added more fuel to the PCV mapping in the 6500, 6750 & 7000rpm range but haven't had enough snow to get out and test it since.

Curious if anybody else has had any similar situations?

guessing you got your gas at the same place.

i would focus on bad gas. specially if you haven't thrown codes since. water in fuel is where my money would be.

i have only been out once this year but my stock sks threw the det code 4 or 5 times crossing first conn lake in nh. it did not like the load going from snow to slush back to snow. i had 91 non eth and was in non eth mode. i switched to eth mode and did not have that issue again.

I agree that bad gas may be the culprit. I have an Axys Pro 163 with SSI pipe mod and PCV running the Dynotech map. I had one set code last weekend. I had bought gas in Stanley. It was 90 non ethanol. I am pretty sure it was fuel but I am going to add some in the map at the top (8400 RPM) where it occurred. Also going to try another map from SSI and a friend in North Dakota.

Nope. He fueled up at a different location than I did.

I also always pick up my gas at a local newer gas station that sells lots of gas and has tanks that are less than a year old. I always fill cans and bring them back to the shop for a little sprucing up. I use a little K100 to make sure I'm H2O free and a splash of Octane booster just to be sure I'm running at least 91-92. Just because the station says it's 91 I never trust them.

The funny thing is that I fill both of my sleds with the same gas that I doctor up. Both sleds are 2016's and both are running the SSI Pipe Mod's w/ PCV set up from DTR. One is a Pro-S 800 and the other is the SKS. The Pro-S has outright ripped and performs flawlessly while the SKS threw 4 DET Codes on my first and only 150 mile run. Unfortunately I've only been able to run the SKS once due to such Low Snow conditions this year here in Maine. While the Pro-S I've logged over a 1,000 miles on so far this year.

Jim at Dynotech says the 2016 Axys HO runs very lean in the middle. Some sleds are having DET issues with the SSI Pipe Mod while others run just fine. I can back that statement up with one sled running flawless and the other seemingly running too lean in the Mid RPM's. My mapping is now programmed richer from 6500-7000rpm but I'm afraid I might not get a chance to run it until next year to see if the DET issue has been resolved with the richer mapping program.

Oddly when my buddy threw a DET code on his Stock SKS that same day it made me feel a little better. :face-icon-small-con

There seems to be some truth with the Axys HO motors being run on the edge of too lean. I just thought I'd test the waters with this thread to see if any other people had similar symptoms with their sleds.
