SKS 800 weight

Can someone tell me why the SKS is 35lbs heavier than the RMK? I have a 15 RMK (not the pro) and it was only 15lbs more than the PRO model. It was perfect for me. I want the additional front cooler and the 15lb sacrifice was worth it.

I am going to snowcheck an 18 and was going to get an SKS until I saw the 35lb weight difference. The Assault is only 10lbs heavier than the Pro. The front cooler and extra bogie wheels can't be where all that weight is coming from.

What has Polaris Done? The SKS will be 10lbs heavier than my 15 RMK!

The snow check can be ordered without E-start, and you have the 2.6 track option also... That way it will only be marginally heavier than a Pro.. You have no choice on the chain case and it comes with a front cooler.

E-start = 25lbs
2.6 track=2-3lbs

Without E-start, and add 2.6 the weight difference is worth having the extra heat exchanger. I rode a couple of Pros and I feel no weight difference. Those things get hot quick on the lake or hard pack where my SKS stays cool.

I snowchecked a '17 sks. I went without E start which takes off 26 lbs. took off the bogey wheels which are a couple pounds. Slp pipe and diamond s titanium can takes off another 20-25 lbs. so I'm 45-50 lbs lighter than the floor model. Also did 2.6 inch track

Difference between sks I snowchecked and pro. Aluminum over structure, chain case, aluminum rear bumper, and front cooler. All worth it to me.

You want a light weight sks, order without e start and get a can.

pretty much identical to mine:face-icon-small-hap

the weight on the polaris website for the sks is for the “in season” sled which includes: e-start and 2.4” track.

eliminate the bogey wheels (put on scratchers) and e-start, then you end up with a sled within a few pounds of the pro. you do still have front cooler (best reason to get the sks!), heavier driveshaft, chaincase, aluminum overstructure and bumper, and non-ported snow flap. all increased durability items IMO.
