Any idea if it's the same deal?

Electronic coupling.

I'm really into learning more about this...thought maybe a discussion on here could help. I have a limiter strap on the rear scissor. It's obviously not easily adjustable on the fly...I love the idea of changing settings when I'm ripping down the logging roads, or booning in the trees...or turning it up hill and stabbing the throttle. The sled needs to behave differently in those three instances.

With my 3" track I don't want to wheelie my way up the hill (that happens now a lot even WITH the rear limiter), but I want the skis to be light when I'm in the trees.

People have had to settle for a happy medium....now with this, in theory, you don't have to settle.

It's expensive though. $2200ish for the electronic controlled version from Skinz.
Is the mountain bike version easy to convert? Is the price worth the conversion hassle?

Thoughts?

My understanding is that it's the same concept, but the valving is different and Fox will not provide that revalve to the general public. In other words, you need to purchase from Skinz to have it work. I own a Scott Genius with Fox shock and Scott specific valving, and they are the same way. No go for conversions.

Ive been looking at the Rockshox with the hydraulic XLoc, lock out engagement. I would think the cable style could freeze and become stuck. The handle bar control looks to be more out of the ways too. At $395 for the shock a good mountain bike shop I think should be able to re-valve, super light and you'd be set.

I have that rockshox sitting in my garage brand new. Thought I might use it but never did. I have a longer cable on it. I would love to sell it.

Scott..... You need a new rear arm too. The stock arm will not take coupling. It will fold.

I would just go with the cable driven arc. I have 3 buddies running the arc. I can give you a review in a month or so.

How much do you get to ride anymore? Wouldn't you rather spend your time riding, instead of engineering parts????

Justin, are you talking about my current rear scissor with the limiter strap on it? Yeah, I've keep an eye on it. Waiting for the first signs of bending to show up.

I ride plenty (ALMOST happy with the amount LOL)...and that's because I don't have to mess with tweeked or broken stuff. :)

Your set up with the belt has some give. That's more than likely why it has not popped yet. It helps the arc too.... but the arc comes with a rear arm.

I would just get the cable drive version. I think they go around 11-1300$ Even the man himself Burandt runs the cable drive.

"With all due respect, and I mean all due respect here" ..... you have a $1000 track, $10000 sled, bad azz sled deck... just pony up and buy it. Your going to save yourself a bunch of frustrations. I understand being money conscious, but we only get to ride so many days a year... I wouldn't mess around.

I am more skeptical if it will work like a true coupled skid, like a Kmod. I am waiting for some miles on my buddies sleds.

Also you should brace your tunnel if you are going coupled. right in front of the stock bracket. Fastrax, Fire N Ice, and I think VanAmberg make them.

Didn't realize you were riding that much. Have not seen too many pics over the last few years.

I'm really waiting for more "on snow" feedback on the arc system from people that are not on the Skinz Team. If the concept works as great as "the man" says then I could see this being a cool feature to have.

The other advantage to the cable from Burandt at Haydays is that the cable system can be put in any position (infinite adjustable) vs the 3 position of the elec. system.

My only real concern with the system is that I change tracks a few times a season (shorter lugs for the midwest and deeper lugs for out west). I wonder how much interference this system has to it. I would assume you just unbolt the shock and cut the zip ties to set the system aside while you change tracks?
