Skinz Air Frame Question.

Just ordered my Skins Air Frame Runnings Boards for my 2012 SBA 144. My question is does anyone have any recommendations on what kind of rivets to use? I heard ones with the washer. does anyone know of any high quality ones that a guy should use?

Check out the Sled Solutions video on You Tube of you haven't already. It helps a lot to see it done once in addition to the instructions provided by Skinz.

For the small amount of rivets required, I'd get some zinc coated steel rivets from your dealer ( the yellowish ones you see on your sled). Or a stainless multi grip pop rivet. avdel (brand). avinox II 's are pretty close to the oem style and available online in bulk!

I've been running airframes for three years on two different Pros using the supplied rivets. I really don't thing you need to work about them coming loose. Just My Opinion.

Just follow the instructions. The best thing for the job is a air rivet gun. Makes the rivets pull tight. If you want to go the extra you could lord adhesive the air frames too. (Not necessary)

The rivets that come with it are just fine. Mine haven't come loose yet. Couple of tips. I used an air saw to cut off the stock boards (don't use a cut off wheel it will melt the aluminum and leave a mess on the bottom side) and if you are looking for strength remember to leave at least 3/4" of the original board to mount it to.

I did my boards (B&M Fab tubular, not Skinz) with multigrip rivets as mentioned here. Are the ones supplied fine? More than likely. But I like the piece of mind that the multigrips offer. They seem like a stronger/better rivet, IMO.

I removed my stock boards with a cut off wheel on an angle grinder. It cuts like butter and left minimal problematic areas. I touched up all cut surfaces with a sanding disk afterwards just to clean things up a bit and straighten out a couple crooked lines. Looked mighty fine when I was done. Just my experience though.
