Sly dogs pure stock w/7/16 bolt weighed 6.45 lbs. Once modded like grinding down the round runner into a teardrop triangle and cutting studs down to fit low profile lock nuts. Replacing steel bushings with aluminum and running 3/8 custom bolt including aluminum spindle bushing weighed 5.34 lbs. Just think all that work for a little over 2 lbs! I must be nuts!

Nice attention to detail, Mike! Reducing 2lbs of unsprung weight is awesome. I was planning on using a Ti bolt to save some weight but now I will do your mods also.

oh wow, that sounds awesome, now if only more people could find out weights of the skis, and of course without snow on them

i'm curious about the zx skis

ZX Skis, ya mean newer skidoo XP right? Pilot 6.9? Toying with the idea of putting them on your Polaris? I put a set of 6.9 on my 07 RMK for the last ride, definitely turned better, easy to mount. More info if needed, if that is where you are headed.....

no i dont mean xp, i mean zx stock skis from 1999to 2002 03ish

Another thing to consider is the shape of the top of the ski.....if weight is a big concern some designs really hold alot of snow compared to other.....like a Simmons sheds snow real good, might be the heaviest ski to start with but in real world conditions it may be one of the lightest. Just a thought-:beer;:)

Winter, You are absolutely right the tops should be crowned a little with no upward side edges! I only did this to these skiis as they were advertised @ 5.9 lbs. It ticked me off they were over a half Lb. heavier. I did ruin one last season as the ski got bent over backwards due to my stupidity! I thought it was ripped off the spindle? No, It only elongated the bushing bores by over an .125" I'd guess I was "A LUCKY DOG" Just purchased a bare ski and swapped over components.
