Ski Rubber Saddles Ripping

So I went for a ride the other day, did a carve and noticed my right side ski flopping around. Stopped, pulled the ski and the rear half of my rubber saddle was gone, so I bungeed it up and continued. Ordered 3 new ones, pulled the right side ski off, replaced the saddle and then pulled the left side off, and guess what its ripping all over the place too. What the heck is going on here? Does anyone else have issues like this? I wonder if my Alternative impact 36" wide kit is putting way more stress on the rubber?

They are kinda poorly designed.

For one, the rubber is far too soft. Allows the ski to stuff up far to easily. One good stuff and these are toast.

Secondly, they do much better if you run the spindles centered in the ski saddle. Distributes the pressure better. As soon as you move that spindle to one side they have no chance of lasting as the pressure is much more concentrated.

The good thing is they are about $6 and take less than five minutes to change one.

I go through these on a regular basis prob change 5 sets a year, they get destroyed on other sleds too easily

Not sure if this applies to the axys but I think it will. Search for the skidoo rubbers, has cured this issues with the pro chassis.

I just put C&A ski rubbers in mine today. Stockers did the same thing. The C&A ones are twice the width and harder rubber. They suck to get on because they are so tight but I'm confident these will last much longer

Ya my viper has rubbers that are twice as wide, tried stock and c&a's on that and still tears. Cheap regular wear item

Skibreeze is right. The C&A's tear faster if you're an aggressive rider.

I was tired of chewing through rubbers this year....I took an old belt, v groove down and cut it to fit. Screwed 2 chunks of belt on the ends with self tapping screws and so far they work great. The amount of belts my poo chews up makes this win win.......lol

Problem is the gripper lawn jart ski, and the ribs in the molded saddle (ribs are likely used to cut material cost, first, reduce weight, second), and the interface with the narrow rubber. Wider doo rubbers work best, some trimming to fit might be required, fill the ribs or use a metal shim, too, and the issue goes away. Or switch skis. All stock grippers do this at some point, some people just never notice. Just happens faster in denser snow.

Doesnt seem like it would make sense to buy a metal "filler".
Could a person fill those voids under the ski rubbers with silicone or epoxy, or something like that? If so, would that help? Anyone done this?
