ski-doo summit 800 rev xp gearing update?

i have the new 08 summit 800 xp with the 154" track and i was wondering if anyone had that gearing update done and if helped out was worth the time?

Do you mean the 19 tooth sprocket verus the 21 tooth that came standard? My dealer changed mine to the 19 tooth even before I picked it up. Free. Supposedly it helps a TON on not eating belts. From what I hear, it is a MUST do. I picked it up just today.

It comes with a 21.
I ran mine for 100 miles with the 21 .
I now have a 20 .
350 miles SAME BELT.
Don't listen to all the BS.
Ride it and change to your riding style. They are giving the belts away for free!

Just an FYI: The 154" has a 21T upper from the factory not a 20T. Not trying to be a smart A$$ but just wanted to clear this up before more "questions" arise regarding the stock gearing spec.

Thanks,

I have a 146 they came with a 23 tooth sprocket i changed it to a 21 it seems to run better but i still only get about 50 miles out of a belt will be changing clutching tomorrow so i will see if it makes any difference on belt life

with the stock 21 on my 154 I got.
30 miles stock 166 rubber all over sheaves
100 miles xs803 no rubber on sheaves
30 miles stock 166 rubber all over sheaves
gear it to 19 tooth
242 miles stock 166 belt and no rubber on sheaves
put 35 miles on a stock 166 belt today in absolute bottom less better park facing down hill. Pinned full throttle for a long time to try to make some stuff. Probably harder then I was on my first 3 belts. No pulled cords and not rubber on sheaves yet. Stockers were pulling cords at 12-17 miles with stock gearing and done at 30.

So I would say a huge YES!!!!!! Put the 19 tooth on.
My buddy picked up his new 154 x last weekend and started pulling cords at 13 miles. He put a 19 on it tonight.
Every one I have talked to with a 154 that put a 19 on it has said it helped ALOT!!

regearing to the 19 made my clutches run much cooler and the belt was riding much higher on the primary (which you want in the deep stuff) If your a light wieght (less 150lbs) and don't ride the deep stuff (3' plus) you might not notice the difference.

new belt and gear

ask my dealer for a new belt and the response was bring it in and we will replace the gear down to a 19 too, under warranty. I have over 700 miles on my xp 154. Just need the communication failure problem solved and it will be a great machine, no broken drive shaft yet either. Spud
