Ski boots or Trailer slides??

Just picked up our new enclosed trailer and wanted some opinions. Has anyone ever tried the plastic ski boots that fit under your skis for loading / unloading. We have always had Trailer slides / ski guides in our last two enclosed trailers but we decided to go with an inline trailer this time and were looking for other options to protect the floor from carbide damage. Any ideas / opinions would be greatly appreciated as the season seems to be fast approaching and we are anxious to get them loaded up!! The ski boots look like they could be a pain to use but also affordable if we share a set. THANKS!!

I think ski boots are a pain the a55. I like ski glides on the floor I have made my own out of old truck bed liners. If you cut them straight clean the edges they look alright.

Ski boots are kind of a pain, but they work great. I like not chewing up the driveway and garage floor when moving the sleds around. I also like not having the slides on the trailer floor to trip over.JMO

I modified all of my sets for ease of use. They are fast and easy to install now. I have them on my sled in my avatar.

Tried the ski boot route, pain taking them off and on switching bettween sleds. Then they are real slippery no control buddy hit the side of the door I ran off the ramp. Put on the EZ glide wide runners and traction mats wow effortless loading to the max!!!!!

Thanks for the input guys!! I guess i'll agree that they look like a pain to use, but was also trying to decide how well trailer slides would work since this is an inline trailer. Unless i find a couple cheap bedliners to cut up, i hate the idea of spending the money on trailer slides that may or may not work well. I guess that i'll just have to load a sled and measure it out.

trailer floor

I've always had an enclosed trailer with wood floor and never really had too much of a problem. I'm not as picky as some tho. I bought my sleds & trailers to ride and ride hard so yes they do get beat up & scratched.. no biggy to me. I just drive in and drive out. Pretty simple. I also repaint my floor every year before sledding season just to make it look a little better. I use this paint that they sell at Menards and it has like sand in it for traction. It's especially helpfull on the ramps to help from falling on your arse. We have a guy that rides with us on occassion who has ski boots. Funny thing is when he rides with us, he brings them along, but never uses them! LOL! I think he sees how easy it is to just drive on in and how much work it is to put the boots on and just says screw it. Anyways, my .02 is... it's only a trailer and they're made to take a beating. Now I'm sure I'll take a beating on here for saying this.

We have ours rino lined and just load and unload, It still looks good after 3 yrs. and the traction is excellent.

We tried the boots and its not for me, I agree with the post above.

After a hard day of riding I'm not putting skins on every sled.

I've used SLP ski slips. They work fine, and I leave them on during transport to keep the carbides from gouging the floor where they sit. The boots are the cheepest way to go, but it is tiring putting them on. I just installed ski guides to avoid the extra work at the end of a ride. And, if you rub the edge of your ski with the slip on, it can cut (rip) the plastic strap, so stock extra straps. My next trailer will be an EXTREME with the fancy floor that doesn't require anything. (we'll see)

Does anyone know if they make boots for Simmons Gen 1 skis?

I can't remember what brand I am running, but they fit the Gen I's just fine. On the other hand, now that I am running Gen II's I might be screwed.LOL Might have to make something.

I think they are SLP's???? It's the ones with the little white plastic dowels to hold them onto the skis. I trashed those and installed nylon straps with quicksnap buckles. It takes 5 seconds a ski to install them. Not that big of a deal.
