Single Sled Deck for small pick up trucks??

Wondering if anybody has any info on a single sled deck made for the short bed (5 ft) trucks? Full Lotus said they have made them to go over the cab kind of like their UTV decks.

I sold my diesel and got a 2010 Tacoma. Going from the best sled hauling set up to the most limited and want to see if this is an option.

There is no way the sled will fit into the bed so the idea is the deck would fit in the bed and the sled would sit on an angle over the cab.

Whats the width on the Tacoma between the wheel wells? I have a 5.5' length box in my Tundra with about 50" between the wells...My 136 fits fine with the tailgate down.

The Racers Edge out of Calgary makes a cool single sled deck for full size trucks. You could see if they have plans for small trucks.

Sweet deck covey, but that won't fit in a tacoma....I think it's about 42" between the wheel wlls. A taco needs something that goes up and over the wheelwells. I know there are quite a few guys looking for something, but nobody is making a taco deck, so if you got something together, it'd probably be popular.

That would be easilly doable by raising the deck to go above the wheel wells, using a box frame design under the deck. We can build custom to fit any truck. Standard deck starts at $1650 for the short box + time and material for custom work.

Why do you need a deck? Just so the sled will sit level? Just have one ski sit on the wheel well, that's what i do with mtn cat in my ranger. Our old gen 2 would fit level.

Well there's a couple threads here as well as a few other sites I use where guys are looking for decks for 05+ tacos. I've spoken with all the local(ish) manufacturers and none of them make a purpose built over the rail single sled deck with an 8' ramp for a taco...all will mod one of their existing designs, but the prices are the same as for a full size! If you or anyone started a production one for the taco, you'd be a popular guy. I have a CAD drawing of one if you are interested, shoot me a pm. I have also been asking around about getting one custom made just for me, but the prices are still pretty steep.

The bed size on a short bed tacoma is 5 ft long. with the tail gate down it is maybe 7 ft long. If I load my sled in the back then the COG is WAY behind the rear axle. That's not a big deal on the full size truck but in a Taco it sucks driving. Just to have a 600lb (wet weight) sled in the back I will need airbags. That's how "soft" the taco is.

Didn't realize that you have a short bed. I have an 09 Tacoma with the TRD sports package with the 6' bed and all I did was build a platform from 2x4 and 3/4" plywood. You only need to make it level with the wheel well since the wheel well is tapered.
