Simmons Gen 2 Modifications

Has anyone trimmed the 10" gen 2's down to a narrower width. I've got a set that came off of Tnytro and would like to replace stock ski's on a Turbo Cat. I was thinking about removing the hardware and and taking and inch or so off each side with a table saw. Any bad or good experiences trying this.

just wait another 8 months and have the NEW Simmons GenIII 8"wide...:face-icon-small-hap
or go ahead and trim the insde tails off 2-3" your GenII's

I'll bet if you just trim the outside edge a couple inches to the runner you'll sidehill better and still have floatation.

I can't believe someone would spend $400 to get the wide skis and then cut 2 inches off them. Why wouldn't you just get the regular simmons skis?

Because I already own the ski's Terry. I ran them for two years on a yamaha. I'd rather not sell them for half what their worth if I can make them work. I'm not a fan of the 6" ski's anyways, but 10" seeems like a little over kill for a m8 cat. Can you believe THAT.

Tyler, buddy, it is America you can do what ever you want. I didn't realize that was you. Did you exchange the yamaha for CAT. I am still running the gen 2's but I would never buy them again.

I did the Carls mod for Powder Pros to my Slydog Powder Hounds. Thats a little
confusing!! Anyhow I trimmed a inch off the outside from the tails to just behind the spindle bolts. So when sidehilling only the uphill ski tail 6" wide is keeping that uphill ski from being planted. Worked pretty good my last trip.

Good Luck
