Where are you guys buying the silver heat tape to replace the stupid foam. Stopped by local hardware store and the dont have a clue

Heat Tape

You can buy the rolls of aluminum sticky backed heat tape at Home Depot, Menards, or maybe Ace Hardware, Its pretty common stuff used the the HVAC industry. Hope that helps you out.

People buy that stuff???

I just steal it from the mechanical contractors when I stop by the jobs...:D
(actually each guy I ask usually says "yeah, sure, take a few" and I ask EVERY time I see hvac guys!!!!)

Home cheapo should have it though.

The only problem I had with that heat tape last year was it would fall off all the time. I installed the slp pipe and had to tape the heck out of the intake to keep it from melting. This year I added the RKT hood lift and fixed the problem. I wish I had bought one last year, they do a nice job at lifting the hood in the right place.

Aluminum on glue

And I found out in critical situations make sure its a good American brand, bought a huge roll of imported aluminum tape that the heating contractors were using, probably ok for metal low heat ducting , but it peeled and wouldn't stick like the 3m stuff I had been using on plastic hoods and airboxes.

Off topic a bit but how did the hood lift affect your air intake. I just installed an slp kit and I'm intalling everything right now and I'm a but curious if you have the slp air kit how did that affect the mating between the air box plenum and the section attached to the hood? Also I need to buy heat tape. Thanks
