Corrected title: Gutted Intake Plenum

With silbers new intake intake adapting to the stock intake plenum... Would it be an advantage to have the airbox gutted and get rid of those plastic things inside the airbox and then put on a slp intake...
Seems to me it would get alot more air that way...

at 6+ PSI should be suckin pretty good
What do you guys think?

SLP intake-yes
the air box is not used at all take it off and don't worry about it
the plenum is the peice attatched to the bottom of the hood its used to draw air from outside the hood

yes correct the plenum, silbers intake connects to the bottom of that plenum... So would it be benficial to take out the plastic "sleaves" inside the plenum put on the slp intake and just have a big open area for the turbo to suck from.

the higher the boost the more benificial removing the sleaves becomes
6-8 lbs I don't think makes any differance, above that would help
the SLP intake opens up the section in the middle where it crosses from
each side eliminating the restriction at that point, after that is installed
removing sleaves will become less efective

Okay but i assume removing the baffels can only be a positive result... Larger volume for the turbo to draw from...the better it can breath the better off it is

Do.u have a turbo on yours? With slp intake and baffels out?

I only see having baffles out to be benificial...

YES
what I am trying to say is the more boost you want to run the more it helps

higher boost take more air volume to acheive

I agree the less restriction the better in this application. So removing any baffles etc. is a good idea.

I am going to have to make some other type of additional intaks though . Am I the onlyone that hate the slp high fliow intake I see that being covering in snow just when you need it most. Poor idea IMO

even though the SLP intake covers with snow it still helps without it the stock
intakes plugs right away and start choking off the air, after the SLP intake I had almost no trouble with air starvation

When you installed your slp intake did you just drill the 7 holes with a holesaw.. or cut the whole opening wide open with a dremel (for more air flow)

Drill the holes
if you cut out the whole thing out the top of the hood loses its strength and
settles down in the middle

We should all wait until Justin release's the kit and see what he recommends:face-icon-small-con

Hate to go out an buy something you don't need.....because you bought it before you didn't need it:face-icon-small-coo

Funny you mention that actually...My dumb@$$, last spring when i wasnt planning on turboing my sled.. i got all excited and bought a couple things so i already had the slp intake, and then when i brought my snowcheck home i got all excited and started putting my vents and the slp intake on..my Dumb@$$ all excited and not even thinking put the slp intake on only to realize after that last years silber kits intake didnt use the stock plenum.:frusty: So it was just gonna act as a decoration.. haha

But i got confirmation from justin yesterday that the kit hooks up to the bottom of the stock plenum.. so im all good now! :face-icon-small-coo

*THESE PICS DIDNT TRANSFER INTO THE THREAD VERY WELL, CAN A MODERATOR THAT KNOWS HOW TO FIX THEM PLEASE DO SO..CHRIS? MH? cuz im not very good with this stuff.

Fack i shoulda taken pics when i had it apart, i even thought about it.. anyways i took a couple for ya matte..

#1 is the 3 push darts that need to come out, then you gotta monkey with it to get the bottom side of the plenum off.

# 2 Is the plastic "sleeves" that run from either side of those vents on the side of the machine.. The picture i took is with the sleeves out of the plenum, when you open it up youll see them just resting in the plenum.

#3 is what the sleeves look like, you can see where they would but up to the foamy pieces on either side of the hood.

#4 is where the sleeves run to and draw air in.

So both these sleeves bring air into the airplenum then you can see the piece that would connect to the airbox on a stock pro.

Hope this hels n gives you an idea

I havent had the the chance to see how the tracks are in the plenum but on my 06 dodge they actual put air straightening fins into the aftermarket intake tube to straighten the airflow out and direct into the turbo maybe these strake could work hte same way
