Hey everyone,
I was out in wyoming this past february and it was my first time out there with my 09 800 dragon silber turbo. I had it all set up here in MN to run 3-5 psi on pump gas with a peak 2.5 track. It ran great when I left here.
I planned on when I got out there to run 75/25 pump gas to 110 race fuel.
I was at albany lodge which is at about 8000ft and rode up to about 10k ft
Now my questions, When I got out there the first day of riding it ran great on the trail. On and off the throttle, no det and would pull about 8000rpm. when i got off the trail and in the deep snow it lost all power. I had no bottom end at all and once it finally worked it way up in the rpm range it would only get up to 7000rpm. So i went back to the lodge and dropped a bunch of weight out of the primary. Went back out and it was better. would hit about 8100rpm on trail but still only 7600rpm in snow. I ended up dropping more weight yet. I ended up running only 62g weights and it still barely got to 8000rpm in the snow? but when i would get the front end up in the air and also the track partially it would like clean out and the rpms would be up where they are suppose to be? Could it be that the track was bogging the motor too much in the deep snow??
Also on one of the days after i got the rpms kinda figured out. I was running wide open in some fresh deep snow and all of a sudden it would miss and spit and spudder and loss power but I never had a det light blink? The only thing I could think of was I was riding wide open for quite awhile and all the vents filled with snow and I had too hot of charge temps. The charge tube was pretty warm to the touch (could barely hold my hand on it). Could that be causing this problem?
I also forgot to bring my high elevation wastegate spring so I could only pull about 5-6 lbs at the most. I think this could have also been part of the problem (not enough power for the setup)?
I know this was my first time out with the turbo setup and would have some issues to work out but this has me stumped?
If anyone has any insight on this it would be awesome so I can better prepare for next year!
Thanks,
sledking
