Siimons gen 2 on 09 M1000

Just wondering if anyone has tried the simmons gen 2 skiis on the new M1000. Especially interested in the deep powder characteristics. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks.

Love em. Was a little skeptical before i rode with them but now convinced. Wouldnt want anything else, stock arctic cat skis are a ****in joke.

I would agree that the stock skis are crap. They cause the track to be overworked and poorly rated when equipped with the Challenger tracks. I switched to the Simmons Gen I's and it was a night and day change. I love my track now in all conditions. I don't know if I'd get the Gen II's unless I planned to keep the sled stock. I've shaved over 25lbs off the front end of my sled and don't find a need for the extra flotation of the Gen II's. The Gen II's float better, but at a price of handling I find. I just rode headlight deep pow last week and couldn't ask for a better setup sled. :beer;

I rode with a guy that had a set of genII's on his nytro. He liked the way they kept the front up in the fluff but he could'nt hold it on a side hill very well. A few places we went he could not follow us through the trees, ski's too wide!

I agree, I tried a set on a RX1 Turbo and found that they are uncomparable for flotation. The extra width does make them hard to sidehill and fit through tight sections or in a trailer next to stock sleds even. Definitely won't be fitting two sled with Gen II's side by side unless the trailer is 8.5' wide. For these reasons I would only get them for the heaviest machines that actually require them such as the big 4 strokes, RT1000, and maybe a stock M1000 at the most. I don't think any 800cc sled needs anything more than the Gen I skis, I think an M1000 is fine with those as well, especially if you have already lost weight with the can as well. I have the full SLP exhaust (-17lbs), BDX intake (-8lbs), and Boss seat (-8lbs) as well as many other small lightweight shavings and fine my sled awesome in the deep with the Gen I skis and stock Challenger track. I can push snow up over the hood without burrying the track in, sidehills great, and steers great in the deep off throttle down hills too. Only complaint is that they are hard to steer at a complete stop and slow speed navigation, and completely suck on pavement cause they bite too much!!! But what does that matter, it's a sled, speed up over 5mph and keep it on snow, not rocks and your good to go! ;)

Love them, Had to get used to them and adjust suspension accordingly. Loosen front spring up almost all the way. I've been riding three times this year in fairly stiff snow no more than 1' of soft, and can sidehill sitting down fairly easy unless its the real steep stuff or lots of obsticles. It does take a few rides to get the side hilling down.
