Sidekick Scrathcers-any Luck?

I've got 2 rides with them on and I don't think they work as well as the spring style. No down pressure to dig into the pack and they always end up on the skid after a few miles. Anyone else having the same issue(s)? Ready to go back to the other style.

They freeze up when cold so they dont touch at all. And that coating on them is ripping off. And make sure you use lock tight on everything. I think i might get spring ones again.

This is very discouraging…just got a set and drilled the holes tonight. No place open today to buy loctite, so installing tomorrow. Any GOOD luck with these out there?!?!!? Pretty expensive to be falling apart that quickly!!!

I have to say mine worked great all week. They seem to throw up a fair amount of ice but the trails were not rock hard either. I am also seeing the coating come off after one week of riding, as long as the cable is stainless I could really care less about the coating but if it starts rusting they are coming off and going back. I have some weekends in Wisconsin coming up and the trails are usually hard there so will see how the work then. We have about 4 sets of spring style in the trailer so if they suck there coming off and I am sending them back due to the coating issues.

Ever since I installed mine it's been snowing and nothing but pow, so I'd say they work pretty well. ;)

I will have a reversible scratcher on the market later this spring so please stay tuned. For now....I still have lots of scratchers in stock (spring style) with red or black anodized inserts. If you do break one of mine, "Over the Top Performance" ice scratchers within three months after your purchase, I will replace the spring at no charge to you providing you pay for the freight to get it there. PM me for pricing.

Nice hi-jack, summitseeker! :)
He really does make great ice scratchers, though.

To answer a few of the issues:

-Yes, we have had trouble with one batch of Slidekicks that the coating is coming off of, but don't worry, the cable itself is corrosion proofed also.
-The coating adds minimal bend resistance to the cable so durability and function is not compromised.
- Some people have been leaving them down at ALL times... don't do this. In conditions where the track sinks into the snow, the loop section gets hit by the passing snow and flings the tip up onto the rails: that is why some are experiencing this problem.
-The Slidekicks are designed to work on hard snow or road surfaces where the track does not break through(obviously if the snow is that soft, the scratchers are not needed).

Because there are some issues with this current design, I am testing a running board mounting approach that hopefully will not have the same problems. We are also experimenting on different cable coating types and cable diameters.
We appreciate everyone's patience with our first-year hiccups, and we welcome your input and feedback!

Have a great winter!

I have about 100 miles of Wisconsin hardpack on mine, and I think they work great. Have not had a hi temp light come on or anything, plenty of road crossings also. Heading to the U.P. this weekend, we'll see how they do up there, if I need them down anyways! LOL.

Trinity, if you need someone to test a new design in the lovely midwest, let me know! If they hold up back here, the mountain guys shouldn't have a problem.

Later, Sxrlar.

Thanks for the input.
I am currently working on a universal "true thumb" throttle conversion lever for snowmobiles that I might need a few testers for.
:beer; It will replace the conventional style and allow much better grip (for you crazy midwest ditch-bangers).

More grip can't be a bad thing...!

Loaded my sled in the truck today and saw that the plastic coating was coming off of mine, they one ride on them and were never even used.
