panels

I just welded half a washer on top of the phillips head. Pretty much a wing nut like head now. Also someone on here used the secondary clutch tool with a nylock nut as a stop. I know you are looking for the yamaha like twist locks but hope this helps you.

Another guy on here used his clutch spreader tool that is clipped in the holder above the clutches (the "L" shaped one) with a lock nut threaded all the way to the top. Same threads. I did it to mine and my buddy's and it works great!

I puy a nut on the clutch tool for the secondary and used it, no tools required and you aleady have it

Go to Lowes - Specialty Fasteners section. I think it's an Air Cleaner nut for a Ford or something. Cost .79 cents. Buy 3 then you're guaranteed not to loose one. If you buy two, you will lose one :-)

Side panel fasteners

I use a wingnut bolt. It has a wingnut top with threaded stud. I first just welded a wingnut onto a bolt, but I then found some at a fastener supplier.

some great ideas guys keep them comming:D

Use 2 stainless 6mm bolts with a 1/2" shank from the threads to the head of the bolt. With the side panel open run the bolt with red loctight in untill the threads bottom out. Tighten again the threads. Using a hack saw cut the head of the bolt off. Close the side panel & push over the shank. To open lift the side panel over the shank &. I promise this will work & be the cleanest way. Ihave all three of my iq's done this way & they work awesome no more dicking around unscrewing something

Check out woodworkersupply.com They have a few differant options that will work for around three bucks.;)

Now that is what I would call ("Keeping it Simple") great idea! Wish I thought of it.

i use DZUS fastners on my side panels..the are the single best thing i have done to them..never an issue, and i have the crappy tabs on my console and they are still there and perfect cause the dzus fastners dont allow the side panel to wobble or fall off..

That is a great idea for a quick disconnect with no wories about loosing a screw but I'd prefer to have a screw keeping the panel down tight on the console. It takes a few more seconds to access but IMO the panel is less prone to move around when screwed down. That's why I use the wing nut screw.

Then again, I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing as you're sliding along side a tree. I broke my right panel last ride :o

This holds the panel on pretty tight. Its not loose like you would think. To take off the panel you have to lift up hard to get it to come off over the bolt shank. I ride hard & tare the $hit out of things & haven't had one even wiggle.
