Side Kicks Scratchers on the Pro

Spring is coming and I already broke a stock scratcher from using them so often.I was wondering if anyone has switched over to the Cable type for more durability and if so are you drilling a hole to mount them. Not worried about backing up as I am used to having them down .Also do they throw enough snow to keep the Pro cool.

Not on a Pro, but I've been running them on my Dragon for three seasons with great luck (122-126 degrees all day). I replaced the tips this year with their newly designed carbide tips, even better spray. If you go with them, make sure to use thread locker and star washers or Nord-Lock washers like I did.

I think that you will receive many good and bad opinions on these depending on the type of snow that riders face. They will not work as well on hard pack ice, but they work Awesome on our dry snow here in Alaska. I leave them down all season and never store them on the rails, it's great to never think about putting them up and down.

Anyone know if with the Slidekicks if you are able to run the 3rd set of wheels in the middle? With the stock scratchers you can't since they hang up right where the wheel sits.

Buddy of mine has never had good luck with them. He leaves his sled outside and they freeze up and fall off his rails. Idk if anybody else has had that problem.

Glad they worked for some.

I tried them a couple of sleds (years) ago. Not enough down pressure to get good spray on packed trail. They can and did break. My experience.

Buddy tried them on Pro, not enough down pressure and soaring temps compared to me with stock scratchers.

Buy the replacement spring for the stock scratcher. At $15 each you can buy four for the same cost as the sidekicks.

The concept is good-- I just found in our riding conditions the reality didn't live up to the theory behind it.

Didn't work for me either, too weak to give a good spray on hard packed snow. Also the end snapped off after a few days using.

Have seen them destroy a track in seconds. Probably install issue, but destroyed nonetheless.

Have used them with great success must be installed properly and the newer ones are alot better than the old ones. New ones have replaceable tips that are carbide.

I use one slidekick super single on the right side of my Pro. It works great in all conditions, just rode all weekend on some super packed stuff and didnt have any problems. When you install it just turn it down so you have enough pressure.

I have used the slidekicks for several years have not had a single
problem I drop them when the temp hits 160 and with in a 1/4 mile the temps are back to 125
i make my own replacement tips out of a grade 5 bolt bent
at a 90* angle and i grind it to a sharp point

freeze up fall of the rails when riding, no pressure to hold them down, that is what i have learned with mine going back to the good ol' reliable!

I've used them for years with no issues, just tip replacement. Ck the bolt once in a while, and you can adjust the pressure...no brainer!

Here's a bracket I've used for years with conventional scratchers to avoid breakage when backing up. They may bend a bit, but don't break. Did I just hijack this thread? :face-icon-small-sho sorry.
