I am looking for a couple of Avalanche shovels. Who makes a durable one for a rather small investment. I would like them to be aluminum so I can powdercoat them.

the voile ones are $40 and come in multiple colors already, there STRONG as can be beat on forever.. had mine for 4 years starting 5th season.. doug out sleds, trucks, 4 wheelers, shoveled dirt and gravel with them... they hold up awsome.

The BCA Companion shovel is a great avalanche shovel, very strong & wide blade for moving a lot of snow.

If that is out of the price range you are looking for, we have some other brands for around $30 or so that aren't on our website yet. PM me for more details.

Voile are some of the most durable. Some others look nice, but after digging a few holes in avvy debris, they start to fold.
Get the "D" shaped handle, not the "T" shaped one, and get telescoping shaft. Short handles are nice on the pack, but hard on the back digging, and D-handles are way better grip for shoveling.

Another vote for the Voile. TIP: Tie the spring clips one to the other inside the tube with an old shoe string. They are easier to find in your living room than the snow. Yes this may limit movement somewhat but, the shovel is useless with out a handle.
