Should I run an SLP pipe or do the RKT drop in kit?

I want more jam, but don't want to sacrifice reliability. Is that asking for too much?:pop2: Other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Real world opinions / reviews on these two products would be very helpful.

I have a bone stock 2009 M8 162 - riding between 5000 and 8000 feet in (mostly) light powder.

I will install the best option and report back with the results!

Thanks in advance, Al

I have a 09 M8 162, went with full SLP pipe setup, SLP intake, and SLP clutching. I think the pipe and intake works good, me and several of my friends are running it. I would use other clutch setups. After talking to a lot of people that know Cats, I will not re-shim the primary again, it is not good to tear down the clutch just to use different weights. Run Cat weights.

I am still trying to get my sled to run good. My wifes stock RMK 155 will hang with it and that just ain't right.

I am also interested to hear from someone about Kelseys' setup.

Go with what RK Tek recommends. I have the m1000 with the SLP y,pipe, and can with Boondocker box. I tried SLP helex and weights with this set up and didn't like the performace of the clutch. There was great power gain but poor back shift and it would hold rmps. I put on the RK Tek head and clutch and was amazed at the difference. Had I know I would have went with a different pipe set up that better performs with the RK Tek stuff. Also, RK Tek has great customer service, Kelsey will answer all your quesitons and get your sled running really well. My buddies m1000 has the pipe changes is really runs better than mine. Good luck

I bought my 07' M8 162, with Rkt head, Slp pipe kit, & Rkt secondary. Sled has over 2000 miles with this set up. Snow has been really crappy for us in the interior of Alaska. I did get one good ride in with a 2010 Assault 155, he could climb half the mountain poaching lines a little, M8 went straight over the top (no poaching). Also have ridden with 2 other 2010 M8's, but snow sucked both times they seem to be equal ish.

I have run both on my 2009 HCR and the drop in kit with the Speedwerx 925 pipe is the stronger. You have to run a fuel controler with the 925 pipe but this combination is the best I have run so far. I know that there has been some discussion about the effects of altitude on the drop in kit (due to raising the ports) but I have not experieced any draw backs. I know the guys over on HCS are quite happy with the D&D shim kit they have been running on the F-sleds and Crossfires so shimming and raising compression together is a win/win in my mind and this is what I have observed in the field with my sled.
