Shoshone Forest Plan - Two Ocean in Serious Jeopardy

This is Togwotee Pass by the way!

Out of 23,475 comments we as snowmobilers made 270. It’s a shame that more snowmobilers don’t seem to care! We will lose areas of riding with that sort of turn out.

More importantly the Forest service has scheduled a meeting on the Two Ocean Mountain area. An Area the Skiers want to remove snowmobilers from. The Meeting is being held Feb 13<sup>th</sup> at 6:00 pm at the Dubois High School.
If this is not a warning to what they are planning, nothing is.

Dan, if I read this correctly the 270# are form letters. Hopefully, our individual comments will carry more weight(doubtful). It is painfully obvious though that the opposition is WAY more organized.

Correct Dan, they are form letters, it will be interesting so see how they are weighted. That leaves about a 1000 that were not form letters.
The part that has WSSA worried is the Meeting on Two Ocean Mountain. That is an area that WWA and Tog Back Country Skiers have been pushing to eliminate snowmobilers from.

Guess we will see.

Thanks for posting on the 'Two Oceans area' WYORMK!!! This area is one of the better spots of riding in all of the Togwotee area. The snowmobiling community will have a very good representation @ the meeting! Commissioners from surrounding counties will be present @ the meeting and have strong support from the local forest rangers on keeping the area open to ALL people not just skiers alone. FYI...Yellowstone National Park rules will be changing a little bit in supporting more use of snowmobiles...2 and 4 stroke use in 2014! I cannot comment more @ this time but we are slowly gaining momentum. All I can say is having the right elected politicians is making a difference for our sport!

Thanks T for the info, for one hope you are right! I wish i was closer, I would run up to the meeting!

We need a strong user base there to represent! Thanks to all that make to effort to go!

Yes, you are 100% right, we need a stronger presence in the area. Commissioners from over 200 miles out will be at the meeting. A group of us met with forest personnel last week and they are very perturbed that a single group of forest users believe their needs are more important than that of ALL forest users. Wish I could comment on more of YNP, but at this time it would be better not to give the haters more ammo against us until the new proposal plan is announced to the public! Our governor is doing a great job in supporting our rights in Cheyenne!
