Short-lived stators....

I have 1000 miles on my '06 900 RMK, and am now installing the second stator in it (after I get it - it's on backorder from Polaris).
Any idea why these stators are so short-lived?

Anything I could do to help it live longer?

What's the best trick to hold flywheel while using puller / removing it?

Thanks

Make sure your flywheel innersheath isn't separating and cutting/shorting wires.

I put a clutch holder on the clutch to hold the crank when removing the flywheel nut/flywheel.

I got the new flywheel puller, pulled flywheel and found sheathing had come loose and had cut / grounded the wires just like you said.

I believe folks have glued the sheathing themselves, and it held after that.

Wonder what I'll use for glue......

good 2-part epoxy

In some cases, I've been able to salvage the stator by cutting wires, soldering/heatshrinking wires and re-using. In other cases, the stator was ruined.
