shock tower clutch venting question

thinking about venting my clutches and I know there are several "DIY" methods and the aftermarket vents but my question is what are the pros and cons of venting above the belt guard and letting the primary clutch "pull" the cool air through the vent slots in the belt guard (they are in the front). this way the vent is more protected from ice snow and debris but I'm betting it doesnt work quite as good. but it may stay cleaner and not ice up...

or go down below the belt guard =possibly better ait flow but may be in more harms way....

your thoughts / experience?

To get good air "flow" across the clutch and pipe for cooling, I put these in. It dropped my overall riding temp about 20 degrees when I was out yesterday compared to before install. Not sure about the clutch longevity from extra cooling, I'll tell ya that at the end of the season.:D

IMO, the more you can vent the better. As long as you keep the snow out. Your motor is better off, longer belt life, more life on your clutches. The cooler the better.

I run 2 slp vents below the clutch guard, and below centerline of the clutch.
IMO if you run above centerline of the clutch, the clutch windage will disrupt or eliminate airflow.
I see no problem running them above the clutch cover either.
The a-arms seem to deflect branches/debris and I have never ripped a vent.
