Shock Threads Cross-threading?

I was adjusting the front shocks to my preference while in the backcountry and the shock locked up. I brought it into my shop, got the pressure off the ski, WD-40'd it and backed it off. The threads are worn down. A little history on my 12, I bought it used (300 miles) with a few months of warranty left and the left shock had to be replaced because it was locked up at the time of purchase. Polaris replaced that one. A little over a month after, the new shock locked up and the dealership luckily got Polaris to replace it even though it was past their 30 day warranty period. Now, I am talking about the Right side. Is there something wrong with these shocks, or am I doing something wrong?

Raw aluminum under that kind of preload will gall every time. Try putting a light film of grease or Vaseline on the threads before installing them. In reality they should be hard anodized to help prevent this from happening but they are too cheap to make them right, and last long term. Hope this helps

Both of my buddies WE's did this.... Mine were taken off at 250 miles and replaced with Raptors so mine are like brand new...

Kinda surprising but I've heard of this cross threading happening to a lot of people with the stockers. No tried and tested fix that I know of

Same thing happened to me, was in the backcountry wanted to tighten up my shocks, right one adjusted fine, left one 1/4 turn and locked right up could not tighten or loosen.

The a-arms need to be at full droop to adjust the shocks properly. Otherwise they could bind up. flip it on it's side and its a piece of cake.

This only works if the threads are not literally bonded and cross threaded.... You sir, are not experiencing the problem.

My front track shock did the same thing. I am now stick with the last adjustment which is a little too stiff for my liking. Can the adjustment ring be cut off and a new ring( if available0 installed?

same thing happened to my front track shock and one of my fronts. got the front turned (with 18" pipe wrench and 3' cheater) enough to see how bad the threads were hammered.

Happened to both my front shocks on my 12 pro, polaris warrantied them last year and now this year it happened to on of my rear shocks... Sucks now that im not on my bumper to bumper still... Very frusterating...
