Shock rebuild

HELP, How do I get the main seal out of the seal assembly, there is what looks like a washer on top holding it in, it spins freely but I cant seem to get it out to replace the seal. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have always been interested in rebuilding my own shocks. What kind of specialty tools did you need? Let us know how it goes.
