Shock CTC?

stance

I guess the ski stance plays a role in how long a shock you could use. I'm not sure but I think my ski stance is only 39". What is the stock stance? when guys are using the edge shocks do they use a 41 or 43" stance?

You might want to snoop around this thread:

But I think 17" would be too much of a front end lift for 39" stance. It would life the front of the rear skid off the ground...mess with your geometry and really make you trench and handle poorly.

16.5" MIGHT fit, but I think that will be tight also.

I'm still using 15.5" shocks on my 41" stance.

Trashed yet another TA today! 3rd this season alone & I was in 2'+ of fresh? Do you think wider skis & taller front stance reduce busted TAs?

Well that's really hard to saw unless we knew exactly what was going on. There can be SO many factors involved with that.

Did you hit a rock when you weren't looking? :)

Those dam rocks get you every time:face-icon-small-dis

My stance is only 37" so I think I'll look for some 15.5" shocks. Any body have an extra set?

Mine was stock 500 rmk width, increased that about 1-3/4" and went with 16 or 16,5" shocks and still quite tall! But that is with Holtz TA's and I suspect them of having a higher shock mounting..

Chop some wood sticks try out some lengths first.

17" is long if you are running stock width rods.

You get to the point where you raise the front end too much and get the ski's real narrow and you get a lot of darting and body roll. There is a fine line between too much and just enough.
