Shipping an ABS pack

Has anybody ever done this with a charged canister and how or what did you have to do to ship it?

Is UPS or FedEx better than USPS for somethign like this?

I know if i buy muzzleloader primers online there is like a $20 charge for hazardous materials. I suppose the one primer in the handle would cause you to have to pay this, but what they don't know won't hurt them right?

It will cost more to ship the full cannister...than if you fired it off and sent the empty...then had the owner get a replacement for 25$


If i remember correctly the hazmat fee is 35$

If you don't claim it and they find it....BIG FINES

US post office. I shipped a ABS pack full canister and trigger and was charged nothing extra.
I showed the people at the post office and explained the entire thing and they said it was ok because it went ground the entire way.
Maybe I got lucky but they went through all of there books and regulations and could not find anything.

you told them that you had an explosive "blasting cap" in the handle?

Got the info that I needed. Now if I could find a smaller pack like the BCA 18 or the ABS Freeride for what I'm selling the ABS 30 for.

We've had A LOT of customers ship their packs with full canisters and haven't heard of anyone being hassled for it. However, if you were to get caught, then there could be big fines. As a commercial shipper, we have been audited by the Feds to make sure we have the right training, right paper work, etc. (and I get a call about 2-3 times per week from the HazMat auditors).

To do it legally, you may try a local UPS or FedEx shipping store and they can ship it for you. If you want to label it correctly, you need to have a Green HazMat placard sticker on the box and label the box with UN1066.
