Anyone know if sheet rock mud will go bad?
I am talking after about 4 yrs. I have a jew never been opened box of mud left over form finishing a couple rooms down stairs 4 yrs ago. Know I am finishing a couple more and wondering if I should use it or get new?

If it was never opened, it SHOULD be fine.

You just don't want dry chunks in ther messing up your artwork.

Sheetrock mud is cheap.
Sanding off contaminated sheetrock mud is a pain.
yep. you can add a little water to it and mix it up as long as it isn't too bad. Normally it is dry on the top, so just get those chunks out of there and you shouldn't be too bad.

When you are ready to use it, open it up and see. I had a box less than a year old that was all moldy. And yes, mud is pretty cheap, but if it's still good, may as well use it.

thread drift alert............Jason, what the heck have YOU been up to lately? Haven't seen you for a while.

Scott, it certainly hasn't been sled related. LOL

As you can see (since I answered this thead) I've been trying to finish up my basement. Then and only then, can I be "allowed" to dive back into the wonderful world of sledding once again. The site superintendant....er, wife, has spoken! Should be done by Christmas.

Before you even open it, if it has been outside or where it could have been cold enough to freeze, it's toast. I use to sell the stuff.

Yeah...no kidding. If it's ever been frozen, toss it.

It had been in my basement the hole time. But do not want to take the chance. It is gone.

Thanks for the info.
