Shane McConkey passed away today, March 26th, 2009, while ski-base jumping in Italy. He was a hero to the sport and to skiers everywhere and the community has suffered a great loss.

Good post and great link! He was truly a legend. My life used to revolve around backcountry skiing prior to snowmobiling. It is a pretty amazing experience and takes a ton of skill, even more so than snomobiling. Props to shane!
