Set up for 1999 Indy lite 340

My son bought a 1999 indy lite 340. Was wondering what a decent set up for this sled is 6500-10000ft. This is the first polaris we have owned so not sure what to do for set up on it. Couldn't find much about it online.

Call a dealer for clutch weight/spring and jet sizes. They should get you pretty close...though at 10000ft it will be wheezing pretty hard. Years ago I gave it a go on a 340 in West. Nimble sled but lacks zip off trail. Might want to look into a little bit lower gearing and a taller lug track (can find them pretty cheap)...depending on your goals. Also, did they add a thumb warmer by that year? If not, definitely get one. Maybe look into some grip from the running boards. And maybe, just maybe, some skis if you change the track to balance things out.

Other than that, check out the clutch side lower bearing and grease it up. Kind of a common weak spot on Polaris sleds. If the speedo goes out, the bearing will follow soon after...

Have fun and be safe!

He is only 9 so I do not need some extreme set up. Just wanting to get the most out of it. He is coming off a 120 so this is a big improvement. I will check with the local dealer.

I can't find specs for an Indy Lite in 1999 but do have specs on the 1999 340, 340 Deluxe and 340 Touring.

Clutching for these for 6 to 9000 feet is gold primary spring, 10MW weights, 36.5 degree helix which is recommended for all altitudes in position A-1, 17:41 gearing which is also recommended for all altitudes.

For 9-12000 feet Blue-Gold clutch spring, 10MW or 10MR weights, gearing and helix as above.

Operating rpm for the little leaf blower is 7000 rpm and engagement at low altitude is 4100 rpm.

At 6 to 9000 feet main jet is 125 and clip in #2 in jet needle at -20 to +10F and 120 #1 for +10 to +40F and 115#1 for above 40F.

At 9 to 12000 feet main jet is 115 #1 for -20 to +10F and 110 #1 for +10 to +40F and 105 #1 for above 40F.
