Victim of car-pedestrian crash identified

The Rapid City Police Department has identified the victim of a car-pedestrian crash Friday night near the intersection of East Omaha and Cambell Streets.

Virgil Dog With Horns of Rapid City was struck at 11:53 p.m. Dog With Horns was pronounced dead at the scene. The police department's investigation has determined Dog With Horns was already lying in the roadway when he was struck by a west bound Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by a 17-year-old juvenile also of Rapid City. Drugs and alcohol are not factors relating to the driver of the Monte Carlo.

At this time it is unclear why Dog With Horns was in the roadway. On June 1, Dog With Horns was struck by a train, and taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital. Additionally, there have been other reported incidents when Dog With Horns was found lying in the roadway.

The investigation of this incident is continuing.

When I used to live by the Pineridge and Rosebud Reservations, there was always an intoxicated Indian or two or three or four, etc. etc. passed out where they weren't supposed to be. They will drink that cheap muskoteel, huff spray paint, or buy aquanet hairspray and then filter it through bread before drinking it. It is amazing that more do not die by getting ran over or from poisoning themselves.

I feel sorry for the kid that ran over him I hope he can get over it without any problems, obviously this guy wanted to die but why make someone else do it for you.

Dog With Horns didn't get it near as bad as the guy who tried walking across the interstate in Rapid just south of the mall a few years ago. He got ran over by several cars and trucks. The body was no longer identifyable (sp).

Man.............it's gettin so you cant even sleep in the middle of the road anymore.....

Year's ago a native guy was sleepin on the hiway near the treatment center when a semi came by and turned him into jello
Nother time (not far away) dude was sleepin on the road and a car went over top, his partner who was sleepin in the ditch (the smart one) was witness and I.D.'d the car..... "It had round tail light's", they never found the car
