senondary spring team clutch

I bought a new secondary spring for my VE 700. They no longer mark them with color bands. I had a black/red in my clutch and the new one is black only. All the information I find tells me they are the same spring. Here is my problem, my old black red is much taller when standing on the bench next to the new black one. Can they really be the same rate if the new one is 1/2 shorter? The old spring if stock would have over 4000 miles on it would that make it stretch? I all so replaed my primary spring and the springs where a exact match. Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks

I replaced my black red on my 04 700 with the black spring. It is the replacement spring for them. I don't remember the size being much diff though. Give MH your part #, or check the online parts to verify the #. My black spring works great!

Black-7043150 is listed for a P2 secondary clutch...

Free length is 4.20" 140/220 lb at 2.2"/1.1" with a 65 lb rate

The Black red, PN 7043063, 5.14" free length 155/222 lb at 2.2"/1.1" with a 65 lb rate

They will probably be similar in function.

Polaris fiche lists this as the superseded part number.
7043150 SPRING-CLUTCH, 65# P2 (replaces 7043063)

You can still buy a black/red from Team if you want that exact replacement.
Team #210182 , 155/222 lb at 2.2"/1.1" [same as the polaris black/red]

My spring is the team spring, black/red replacement, 155/222, but it is all black, and similar in size to the original. Hope this helps to clarify the difference.

So is it worth the hasel to return the spring and get the team or slp replacement ? They are close and it works well now.
If it works well, pulls 8000rpm, and holds it from start to finish, I would keep it. It is the polaris replacement. I am running the team yellow primary, which is the exact replacement for the black/green polaris, along with the team black sec. My 700 144 will hold 8000 rpm at wot at most any alt. I only have to change the weights for the various altitude. I also run one delrin washer in the secondary.

Thanks, for the info. I worded my last post wrong. It work great with the black red spring now, I pull 8150 to 8200 all the time I just don't want to lose any thing. My wifes sled is in need of a new secondary spring I think I will get the slp black red and install 7043150 on her sled.:face-icon-small-hap
