Selling off 08-09

not sure where you are looking but, 09's arent readily available new left over or used.

took me forever to find a left over 09.

now the 08 yes, you do see alot of them but they need ALOT of upgrades to meet or exceed the 09, 2010 sleds. most suspension, tunnel, telescopic bars, powerclaw track ect...

just what i have saw. ski

I suspect it's mainly due to engine changes for 2010.

The 07-08 and 09 800 motors were in the 142-145 range. The 2010 engine is in the 162-165 range (They saw 163.4 at Dynotech).

The other changes are the new taller, lighter and cool looking seat and to a lesser degree I believe there was a slight steering ease upgrade as well.

So, if you have an 08 or 09 and plan to upgrade your sled to 2010 power specs. It's going to cost your in the vicinity of $2,000 (give or take). So, if you can sell your 09 for close to $8,000 and find a 2010 for just over $10,000 you just about break even AND you still have a factory warranty on your engine (which you'd negate on your 08 or 09 by doing the engine mods). With the 2010 you'd also have a sled with an even higher resale value.

If you were to ride a 2010, you would understand. They are significantly more snappy on the bottom end, and pull harder all the way through the power band. Especially coming off an '08, I can totally justify that decision... If I previously owned an '09 I don't think it would be totally worth it unless someone had a ton of cash.

ok here is my problem would it be worth paying the extra $2000 for a 2010 over a 2009 if im planning on going turbo in the next year or so ?? would the new motor really make much difference if ur running a race gas turbo kit ?? just cant decide?

From my limited experience on the topic I'd say stick with an 09 (for now anyway) if you plan on turboing your sled in the near future. Here's why:

There are a bunch of proven turbo setups for the 09 and older M8s. The 2010s may work just fine with a turbo but, last I knew there were a lot of the turbo builders still trying to perfect their turbo setups to work well with the changes to the 2010 motor.

Then there's always the nagging question of how well the 2010 motors will last stock (reliability wise) that mystery is compounded even more when these motors are boosted.

From a reliability standpoint, I'd say stay with tried and true 09 and prior for turbo applications. Next year we may find that all changes but, there's still too big of an unknown out their right now.

yeah i agree with that, i found a 09 sno pro m8 with 800 miles for 7500

sound like a good deal ? i think so

my buddy bought a 2010 sno pro and when it was all said and done cost him a lil over 11 for that price difference a guy could almost pay for a turbo set up and rock the 2010

I was at this cross roads last spring when I was contemplating upgrading to a newer cat. I bought the 09 for a few reasons. One is was a proven and reliable motor. two a big weight loss over the 08 and not that much difference to the 10. three. with a slp pipe and a bit of tweaking it would match the 10 in hp for about 1500 less than a new sled.
Soooooo. now I have a 09 with a slp pipe/ypipe/ can set up and a 10 seat. We will see how it performs against my buddies 10 in a bit less than a week.
I paid 8300 for my 09 SE. 550 for the slp pipe and can, 250 for the seat. total 9100. My buddy paid 10500 for his 10. I still have some room for other mods.
However I did this know in a year or two I will be turboing it. Couldn't take the chance on the 10's motor being so new and most likely not having all the quirks out of it yet.
