Selling a motorcycle with an untransferred title

I am selling my motorcycle that I recenty got in a trade and I haven't transferred the title in my name yet.... Can I still sell it or do I need to put it in my name first?

Thanks

Don't know about WA but you can do it here if the title has not had your name put on it and has not been notorized. Just have the new buyer put his name on it and have someone he knows that is a notary notorize it and all is good here. I bought a trailer from a guy who bought it in Maryland and the dealer gave him the MFR's statement of origin with no buyers name on it. He pulled it out here with a temp permit, I bought it from him and he gave me the MSO, I had the trailer for a year and a half never titled. I sold it, gave the MSO to that guy he put his name on it had it notorized and titled in his name. No problem

like i said, you can do whatever you want BUT, technically, its against the law.. at least here and in most states.. skipping title (not paying the taxes and reg. fees to the state.).. dont worry, i wont tell anyone.. :D

Alright here is the deal.

I have a motorcycle that I purchased. The guy that I bought it from sold it to me for $1000. He gives me the title and it still has the name from the owner before him on it. So the second guy didn't do anything with it other than ride it for 3 years. The first owner signed the back of the title and dated it. He also listed the price as $1875.

Now I have the title, with the first owner listed as the owner, he has signed for the release with a purchase amount of $1875.

So can I just take this in and pay the tax on the $1875 and the late fee for not transfering it in 90 days or whatever is says.

Also do I need a bill of sale? Or will the information on the back of the title work?

This is in Idaho.

Thanks
