Self-made high rise seat. Read about it once...

I read about someone removing and then adding some foam to their stock M seat to make it a high-rise boss-ish style seat. Anyone else heard of anyone having luck with this?

Just take the cover off and glue the foam of your choice onto the seat foam. Make it even with the top of the bun and get someone to stitch a new cover on it. If you want to lighten it up, cut out most of the foam, leaving about 2" around the edge, add a few inches of styrofoam and top off with 3 or 4 " of closed cell foam. Shape it like you want and stitch a cover on. Do some checking on prices to get a new cover put on. Sometimes they want so much you can pick up a used boss for the same money.

Several guys have done this mod, and they are happy to tell you about their experience.
Problem is, they don't hang out on this forum anymore.

I did that to my old 1M seat. A local upholsterer did it for me for $100. He made the main part of the seat level with the rised back. He needed to replace the material for the main part of the seat to get the height but worked out great.

Bag just buy a boss there worth the money in a long run cuz if u trade sleds or somehon u can always take it off and put it on a new one

If this is on an m series, I would just pick up a 2010 seat. Freeagent can hook you up cheap. Prob not much more expensive then you can mod your stock one. I would go the 2010 route over boss IMO They are a better seat. Slightly heavier, but better material, and they don't have a million zippers to break.
